Dragon Age Inquisition Steam Controller
- Although the Frostbite engine, the game engine upon which Dragon Age: Inquisition is built, is notoriously hard to mod, modders have figured out how to change some things, bringing a new level of customization to the game. To add mods to Dragon Age: Inquisition, all you need is the DA-I Mod Manager and the game.
- Dragon Age: Inquisition absolutely refuses to accept joystick-style input from Steam Controller. So I've been trying to get DA:I to work with the Steam Controller.

I started playing Dragon Age Inquisition on my PC yesterday (21 November 2014) when it was released. After about 4 hours of not enjoying the keyboard/mouse interface, I decided to give my gamepad a try. This works much better for me.
One huge problem I have though, is that I cannot figure out how to open the quest map while using the gamepad. With the keyboard configuration this is done by hitting the M key. The manual also is no help trying to figure this out:
The funniest thing for me is: I can't find any references anywhere online that indicates that anybody else is having issues trying to open the quest map with a gamepad. I personally feel I cannot play the game without the map, as I'd be running around blind looking for quest locations. Naturally, I tried getting to the map from other windows that you are able to open, but to no avail. Is this perhaps something that could get patched (hopefully in the near future)?

Really, this is quite embarrassing. I read further in the manual:
Free autocad 2010 activation code. E • asy to use application. • Can be used for designing the buildings. Got a very user friendly and office like interface.
and noticed that the quest map does indeed appear in the hero menu, in the center. I was looking for it on the outside points of the star.

The console versions would pop up the quest map if you pressed left on the d-pad. Not sure why you can't when using a controller on the PC but as you've figured out, it's in the hero menu through the start button.

I happened to pop into a Gamestop about a month ago needing a replacement controller for the 360 one that died, and they had a steam controller on sale for $25, so I grabbed it.
The one thing I disliked most about it is the lack of a second stick. I have a lot of twin stick shooters and other games that use both sticks on steam. The 2nd d-pad surface was kind of cool, all smooth and easy to press, but it's in a weird position on the upper part of the controller and just doesn't feel right for my twin stick games. On other games it's a pretty decent controller and seemed to work fairly well.
But the XBox 360 controller is made by Microsoft, so it works automatically with Windows, no installation or drivers needed (I've used it on Win 7 and Win 10). The regular price is $20 at the local walmart for Rock Candy 360 controllers. It works elsewhere from Steam. And most importantly, it has 2 sticks, and all the buttons seem to be a natural fit to my hands and fingers, and are well positioned. The only advantage the Steam controller has is it's wireless, whereas the Rock Candy isn't. Not a big deal for me, I could find a 360 wireless controller, but I don't really need or want one.
So, does anyone with Steam controllers like them better? Mind sharing your thoughts on 360 vs Steam controllers?
